Sunday School

The
Sunday school is located down stairs in the church, and may be accessed
via the door off the parking lot in the back of the church.
Rally day (the first Sunday after Labor Day) is the official
start of our Sunday School year that lasts until the Sunday before
Memorial day.
Children three years old and up are welcome. We begin at 9:00am and end
at
10:15 to allow families to attend worship with their children.
The morning begins with a group worship time similar to our church
service.
This includes candle lighting, singing, and offering and discussions of
blessings and curses during the children's week. The children are then
presented with a lesson in either small groups or whole groups depending
on attendance. Crafts, games and snacks are often used to reinforce the
lesson. This year we are beginning a program to help the older children
memorize books of the bible and common UCC prayers used in worship.
Visits to local senior living centers, family bowling, chowder making,a
birthday party for Jesus and breakfast with the Easter Bunny are
activities enjoyed during the year. The children occasionally
participate in short presentations during our church service.
The Sunday school relies on offering and a Christmas and Easter
candy sale for funding. A majority of the money collected is used for
mission projects; such as an Adopt a Family Christmas program, a joint
vacation bible school with St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran that we offer
during the summer. In addition, a specific mission project is also held
during the year. This year we are also participating in the nationwide
Souper Bowl day of Caring.
